Ultrasonic Cleaners

Ultrasonic Cleaners

Ultrasonic cleaners or ultrasonic baths are cleaning devices that transmit high-frequency sound waves through liquid to clean laboratory equipment. Cleaning occurs when the sound waves, typically 40 kHz, agitate water or a solvent-based liquid to cause cavitation or bubbling. The resulting molecular explosions create enough force to dislodge dirt or other contaminants from the surfaces of items immersed in the liquid. This process can also disrupt cells or other biological materials for sample preparation or can be used to remove dissolved gases in solvents, a process called degassing or defoaming.

Ultrasonic cleaners offer an eco-friendly method for cleaning instruments, tools, containers, complex apparatus, and electronic devices without causing damage. They are available in a range of sizes and configurations—from small benchtop models to large industrial units, and with a variety of baskets and other accessories.
