Platinum nanoparticles are used in scanning probes (microscopy) and catalysts. Catalyst used for the hydrogenation of alkenes, alkynes, nitro groups, ketones, aromatics, used for hydrogenolysis of cyclopropanes, catalyzes oxidation of alcohols. Schiff's base and nitrohydrogenation, hydrosilation.
