Neodymium(III) oxide is used as a catalyst in polymer chemistry. Glasses doped with neodymium(III) oxide are dichroic in nature and is used in welding goggles and other colored glasses. It finds use in solid-state lasers, carbon arc-light electrodes and enamels. It serves as the starting material for the synthesis of other neodymium(III) compounds.
