It also acts as bacterial and histological stains. Further, it is used to stain cellular elements, certain tissues, bacteria and also acts as a local anti-infective.

Solubility
Soluble in water, alcohol, diethyl ether and acids practice. Insoluble in ether.

Incompatible with oxidizing agents, reducing agents, acids, acid chlorides, acid anhydrides and chloroformates.
